HOW LONG DO KOALAS SLEEP?

The koala is an incredible animal! Not only are they cute and furry, but they are also some of the sleepiest animals on the planet. That's right – koalas can sleep for up to 22 hours a day!

So why do koalas sleep so much? Well, it turns out that koalas need a lot of rest because they have a very low-energy diet. Koalas mostly eat eucalyptus leaves, which don’t contain a lot of nutrition. So, to conserve energy, koalas sleep for most of the day. When koalas are awake, they move slowly and look for food. They also hang out in trees and climb around to find the best eucalyptus leaves. Koalas are also social animals and like to communicate by making sounds and gestures.

So next time you see a koala, remember that they might be asleep. But when they’re awake, they’re really active and interesting to watch!
